Veolia: the pioneer of environmental conservation industry in China

Veolia has a strong presence in China, where its waste, water and energy activities are at the heart of sustainable development in China: resource conservation, environmental protection, recycling and sustainable economy, and social development.

Waste activity

Bringing its wide range of expertise, Veolia has pioneered the development of responsible waste management in China. Today, Veolia operates over 20 waste management projects across  China,  and is the leader in hazardous waste management. Veolia operates some of the largest landfills in China, including the one in Foshan Gaoming and Shanghai Laogang, as well as 5 important landfill gas and waste-to-energy facilities.

Water Activity

Since  1990s , Veolia has been offering water services to municipalities and industries across China to help them cope with the increasing demands on their water infrastructure. Today, Veolia operates water projects in half of the 34 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and special administrative regions in China, for example, the important concession contract in Shanghai Pudong, and the large industrial water project for Tianjin Soda.

Energy activity

As the global leader in energy services, Veolia operates district heating and cooling networks, industrial energy services, and building energy services in five cities in China, including Jiamusi, Harbin, Chongqing, Chengdu and Hong Kong.

Since 2007, Veolia manages and operates the entire central urban heating network in Jiamusi under a 25-year concession. In the same year, Veolia won a contract to provide heating in the southwest section of Harbin.
