Senior Executive Vice-President of Asia, Régis Calmels: Veolia’s environmental responsibilities under China’s new environmental law

During an interview with People’s Daily last month, Veolia’s Senior Executive Vice-President of Asia, Régis Calmels introduced a few projects on how Veolia has embraced and committed itself under China’s “New Normal” in environmental management, such as the treatment plant powered by biogas in Urumqi that reduces carbon emission.

He also noted that China’s new environmental law has created new business opportunities for the Group, quoting Veolia’s co-generation plant in Harbin as an example. Not only does the Harbin project enhance local energy efficiency, it has also emerged as a new growth area for the Group.
